Walls, floors and ceilings tend to remain comparatively warmer during the cold months and much cooler in the summertime. A great home insulation system helps in avoiding environmental damage a result of air conditioners and heaters that emit greenhouse gases.

In choosing insulation, keep in mind that the greater the R value, the better it is at saving energy and helping make your home comfy. You can choose from a number of insulation types, according to your requirements and what you would like to pay. One of the benefits associated with having chosen the correct material would be a home that is correctly insulated and efficient with regards to heat and consumption. There are 4 different types of insulation you must know about if thinking of your house;

Fiberglass Insulation
You’ll usually find the fiberglass type placed between wall studs and roofing joists. It is composed of synthetic fiber with fine strands of glass kept together in a sheet or mat by a minimal amount of resin coating. It is lightweight and does not wear out its functionality progressively. Although it is pretty versatile, it is found to be not as safe for use. If you’re planning on adding this on your own, make sure to wear gloves, a safe mask/glasses and a fully sleeved shirt.

Loose-Fill Insulation
Loose-Fill is either blown or added into a section of a property, often put to use in enclosed spaces for example attics, ceilings, walls and floors. Loose-Fill insulation is available in a number of materials just like fiberglass, rock wool and cellulose.

Spray Foam Installation
The spray foam insulation is comprised of a type of foaming agent plus a polymer one. In most cases sprayed into tiny cracks or spaces. These kinds of insulation are great for the areas that do not have a regular shape. When it’s applied it comes in liquid form, however in a short period of time it turns into a solid mass.

Rigid Foam Insulation
Rigid foam home insulation, also called foam boards are more widely used to insulate the foundation of a home due to their water resistance abilities. Another popular use of this type of insulation is for exterior insulation on walls or under siding. They should be fit tightly together in order to avoid any loss of energy. It has a higher R-value than fiberglass, which is the reason many householders and builders opt to use it.
